Air France, KLM and Transavia have suspended all flights to Dubai in response to escalating geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region. This coordinated action is disrupting travel plans for passengers heading to Dubai, with the impact felt across popular tourism periods.
Transavia, part of the Air France–KLM group, has confirmed its suspension through February 12. Air France had previously paused services and then resumed operations on January 24 following a reassessment. KLM had also canceled services earlier and is now joining the current suspension alongside Transavia.
Affected passengers are being encouraged to rebook onto alternative dates or request a full refund. Travelers relying on lower-cost options may face longer journeys, reduced seat availability, and potentially higher fares as demand shifts to remaining services.
The reduction in European arrivals is also being felt at Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest hubs, during a peak travel window. In the hospitality sector, hotels are introducing flexible cancellation options and adjusting their market focus to mitigate short-term booking fluctuations.
Alternatives remain available. Several European airlines, including Lufthansa and British Airways, as well as Emirates, continue to operate flights to Dubai, though capacity is limited and prices may be elevated. Some travelers are entering the UAE via Abu Dhabi International (AUH) or Sharjah International (SHJ), both within roughly an hour’s road journey from Dubai. Passengers using alternate routings should pay close attention to visa and health requirements that may apply in transit points.
