We flew from Toronto to Dusseldorf on an overnight flight with a transfer in Dublin. While in the air Aer Lingus sent me an email to say that our transfer was no longer available which I never received as I did not have access to my email. When we arrived at the gate for our transfer our boarding passes no longer worked and we were told to go to the desk. At the desk, they started looking for flights they could put us on. We were given tickets to from Dublin to Heathrow to Dusseldorf and told that was the best they could do. Instead of arriving at Dusseldorf in the morning we arrived early evening exhausted. I was very disappointed with Aer Lingus's management of our flights. Airhelp was able to negotiate a settlement for us which I am thankful for although it doesn't make up for the time lost on my birthday trip to visit my family
