Pinned back hair, bright smiles, and tailored uniforms are trademarks of flight attendants. But some airlines have taken their uniforms to a high-fashion level and even bring in first-class designers to dress their staff.

Whether the look is classic to honor the local culture, or modern to keep up with the latest trends, these flight attendant uniforms top best-dressed lists on and off the plane.

True fashion never goes out of style. That may be why the flight attendant uniform for Singapore Airlines has been the same since 1968! Affectionately labeled ‘Singapore Girl’, the traditional and timeless two-piece was originally designed by Pierre Balmain and has become an iconic trademark of the airline.

On the other hand, Korean Air has made it a mission to make sure their flight attendant uniforms are ahead of the fashion game. So much so that passengers constantly inquire about where they can get the scarves from the current flight attendant outfit for themselves. While the accessory by Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré may not be for sale, the next best thing would be to buy the teddy bears the airline offers that are dressed in the same wardrobe.

The famous Emirates flight attendant uniforms speak for themselves. As soon as you spot the red hat with a draping scarf and tan two-piece suit you immediately know the airline. The headpiece, a symbol of respect to the culture at the airline’s home base in Dubai, pairs perfectly with the red heels and red peek-a-boo slits on the skirts.

Winner of the Best Cabin Crew in Thailand in 2018, Thai Airways is also one of the world’s most stylish. The vibrant traditional Thai outfits, also called Chut Thai, are worn in a variety of colors and many feature a silk wrap called chong kraben. However, no flight attendant uniform is complete without the required fresh purple flower.

From the fashion runway to the actual runway. Hainan Airlines’ flight attendant uniforms, designed by Lawrence Xu, premiered at his 2017 Haute Couture Show before the cabin crew began modeling them down the airplane aisles!

Making sure male flight attendants don’t get left behind, the clean designs include long coats and three-piece suits. After being awarded the best new uniform that same year from the DesignAir Awards, the airline began offering dolls decked out in the same chic flight attendant outfits.

Remember that if you had any flight delays with the airlines flying to or from EU, you can claim compensation for delayed flight.
