What your Rights say about Uzbekistan Airways Flight Compensation

There are few things as frustrating as hearing that your flight was delayed — or worse, canceled. A disrupted flight can wreak havoc on your journey and completely ruin your travel plans. You may be left stranded at the airport, missing out on bookings that you have already paid for — such as tours, events, and concerts. Sometimes, you may even miss out on special events at your destination, such as a wedding or an important business meeting.

Uzbekistan Airways Canceled Flight Compensation

In Europe, UK 261 protects all passengers in the event of flight cancellations, especially last-minute flight cancellations.

Passengers due to depart from a European airport are always entitled to a full refund if their flight is canceled and Uzbekistan Airways can't offer an acceptable replacement. Additionally, for any Uzbekistan Airways flight cancellation less than 14 days before the flight, passengers may also be eligible for Uzbekistan Airways flight cancellation compensation, up to £520 per person.

That's unless there were some kind of extraordinary circumstances which gave Uzbekistan Airways no choice but to cancel the flight. The law accepts that airlines should only pay compensation when they are at fault — but they must still ensure passengers reach their final destination or get a full refund for the flight.

Airlines like Uzbekistan Airways also don't need to pay compensation if they're able to offer an alternative flight that arrives at a very similar time to the original one. The specific time limits are included in our flight cancellation compensation guide.

Flight Compensation and Air Passenger Rights

Europe's air passenger rights, UK 261, are among the most comprehensive in the world. They are designed to ensure airlines like Uzbekistan Airways take appropriate care of their passengers and compensate passengers fairly when their journeys are disrupted by flight delays, cancellations, or overbookings.

All passengers on a flight departing from a European airport are covered by UK 261. However, as Uzbekistan Airways is not a European airline, they do not need to pay UK 261 compensation when they are flying outside of Europe, or even on flights to Europe if the departure airport is outside the EU.
