A win for passenger rights: AirHelp celebrates getting 2 million people compensated

By Jaqueline Junginger・Last updated on 27 October 2023

Earlier this year we celebrated 10 years since AirHelp was founded on a beach in Bali. Now, we’re marking a new milestone. Thanks to the hard work of our global team of over 400 AirHelpers and our extensive network of lawyers, we’re delighted to have helped over 2 million passengers get paid the compensation they were owed for delayed or canceled flights. This isn’t just a big win for AirHelp, but a win for global passenger rights all over the world — 2 million of them!

Meet our 2 millionth customer

We reached out to our 2 millionth paid customer, Amira, to find out about her flight disruption, her claim, and her experience using AirHelp.

I was on a trip from Helsinki back to Bucharest, and I had a layover in Frankfurt. My flight was delayed, and I arrived in Frankfurt just 10 minutes before my connection to Bucharest. I could not make my connection, and the next flight to Bucharest was more than 12 hours later. I arrived in Bucharest much later than scheduled.

After the bad experience, when I got home, I saw the emails from AirHelp. I gave it a try… and submitted everything needed. Throughout the process, I received updates, and a few months later, I received €400 compensation. I was very pleased with my AirHelp experience.”

4.6 out of 5 stars on TrustPilot

We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for the many passengers who put their trust in us. We’ve checked flights for over 15 million flights, and achieved a whopping 4.6 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot from over 125,000 customers.

We’ll keep fighting for your rights

We’ve done some great work, but with approximately 26% of all flights affected by long delays and cancellations each year, and 85% of passengers unaware of their rights, we’ve got our work cut out for us.

That’s why we make it our mission to raise awareness around air passenger rights, and tell people what they’re entitled to when they fly. We release the AirHelp Score every year, now a go-to reference ranking airports and airline performance.

We’ve also developed an easy guide to air passenger rights and are working hard with governments, lawyers, lawmakers and lobbyists around the world — including the UK, Brazil, Turkey, and the Montreal Convention — to make air passenger rights better for everyone.

Is it your turn to get compensation?

As a passenger, you have rights when your flight’s delayed or canceled. There’s the right to care after 2 hours, the right to information, and the right to compensation after a delay of 3 hours or cancellation less than 14 days.

Has your flight been delayed or canceled over the last 3 years?
