What Can I Do If My Claim Through AirHelp Is Rejected?
So you’ve endured a flight disruption, you’ve filed a claim through Airhelp…and your claim was rejected. Now what?

There are multiple reasons a claim could be rejected, but one comes up most often:
The disruption was caused by extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline’s control.
“Extraordinary circumstances” could include things like inclement weather, employee strike, political strife, and more. The problem with this term is that it’s just vague enough to be used as a loophole or to keep you in the dark about what actually caused the disruption. This leaves you in a place of uncertainty about what to do next.
If you’ve been given this reason for the claim rejection, gather the information you have. Did the airline tell you what was causing the disruption at the time it happened?
If the airline did inform you at the time and the reason was inclement weather, then it might not make sense to move forward on fighting this claim. (But there is still more you can do – go down to the bottom of the post to find out what!)
If the airline did not inform you at the time, or the reason was something other than weather, then you may still have a chance to fight for your claim.
Why? Because the laws on air passenger rights are changing all the time – and for good reason! In the past, some airlines used the term “extraordinary circumstances” as a loophole to get out of owing compensation for flight disruptions. As a response, passengers and courts are fighting back to change what can and can’t be claimed to be out of the airline’s control (and thus an “extraordinary circumstance”). (The most recent change on this front is a court decision stating that “technical problems” are no longer a valid reason under the extraordinary circumstances clause.) That means that fighting back against your claim or proving that the disruption could have been preventable could still get you your compensation. If you don’t wish to take the airline to court on your own – or if it’s pretty clear that your claim isn’t valid for compensation – then you still have one more chance to claim compensation for disrupted flights:
