AuthorThe AirHelper

If you are getting ready to head to Austin for SXSW, you are probably as excited as we are. But, since we’re in the travel business, we took this opportunity to do a little bit of data sleuthing.

Let’s start with booking your flight. If you are planning to fly Southwest, you may want to pack some extra reading material.

Flying Southwest? We’ll see you in 21 years…(yes years)

Flight data shows that the airline suffered 11.5 million minutes of arrival delays in 2014 alone. That adds up to 21 years worth of arrival delays in the US just last year alone.

Here’s more good news, Austin-Bergstrom ranks 35th on the list of airports with the most delays in the US. Compare that to Dallas/Fort Worth, which suffered about 6 years worth of delays last year making Austin-Bergstrom’s 7 months of delays look like nothing more than time for a latte and a cinnamon bun.
